Les Bleuets concede a draw against La Rojita

While the France Espoirs team remained on an impressive streak of 14 games without defeat, Sylvain Ripoll’s players had to give up their arms in a big friendly defeat last Saturday in Leicester against the Young Lions (0-4) . It was therefore necessary to start off on the right foot, at home on the Vannes side, against La Rojita. Injured, Mohamed Simakan had to give way to Castello Lukeba for this meeting while Michael Olise was the player retained by the tricolor coach in the midfield and in attack. Enzo Le Fée, Han-Noah Massengo, Amine Gouiri, Bradley Barcola and Arnaud Kalimuendo therefore started the match as starters.

For their last warm-up match before the European U23 Championship, Les Bleuets took control of the game and the ball from the start of the match. Yasser Larouci, very restless on his side, offered many solutions to his teammates but the young Spanish shooters did not let themselves be destabilized and found the parade each time. After the first quarter of an hour, Spain was gradually gaining strength against Bleuets who were gradually retreating. Half an hour into the game, Michael Olise fell into the opposing area following a charge in his back but the referee did not flinch despite the tricolor complaints (31st).

Better after the break

Just before the break, Alex Baena found Arnau Martinez whose recovery flew into the stands. Despite this scare, the two teams returned to the locker room after a rather dull first period. In the second period, the two teams went blow for blow. La Rojita created a double chance through their captain Abel Ruiz who stumbled on Illan Meslier (48th). A few minutes later, Bradley Barcola stumbled this time on Arnau Tenas (52nd) then the Spanish goalkeeper was on the verge of getting a hole under the threat of Arnaud Kalimuendo (54th). Amine Gouiri in turn found a shooting angle near the surface but his shot flew over the cages (58th).

While a false rhythm began to settle, Arnau Martinez came to smack a header which ended its race on the right post of the French goalkeeper (68th) who made a new parade, with his foot, to keep his clean sheets against Juan Miranda (83rd). After letting the storm pass, the Blueberries created a last chance thanks to Matthis Abline but Jon Pacheco sacrificed himself by putting his bust in opposition in his area on the strike of the tricolor joker (86th). As a reminder, the France Espoirs team will play the Euro scheduled for the end of the season from June 21 to July 8 in Romania and Georgia. In pools, Les Bleuets will face Italy, Switzerland and Norway.
