For the last meeting of the day, counting for the 17th day of Ligue 1, Paris Saint-Germain, undefeated leaders, traveled to the north of France to face their runner-up, RC Lens, their runner-up. A shock of high table eagerly awaited on this January 1st between the first and the second of our championship. And the meeting kept all its promises. Only a few minutes after kick-off, both teams had already scored a goal each. Lens materialized on the first hot situation after a good movement. Forgotten at the far post, Massadio Haïdara delivered without control a cross from Florian Sotoca that Gianluigi Donnarumma pushed back somehow on Przemyslaw Frankowski and the Pole could finish quietly in the empty goal (5th, 1-0). The Parisians reproduced almost identically the same action to equalize in stride. Nordi Mukiele, eccentric, managed to put away after a game reversal from Carlos Soler. In the fight with Brice Samba, Hugo Ekitike resumed the leather, perhaps making a mistake on the Lensois goalkeeper then concluded with serenity (10th, 1-1). As the match lost in intensity, Hugo Ekitike resumed a shot well stopped but released by the opposing goalkeeper, in the small net (17th).

The Lensois were again dangerous through Alexis Claude-Maurice who missed his technical gesture and his volley with the right foot, yet terribly alone in the Paris area after a good cross from Florian Sotoca (23rd). It was only a postponement since on a counter-attack, Loïs Openda avoided Sergio Ramos’ tackle with a superb body feint then eliminated Marquinhos in the area thanks to a new feint before finishing by shooting under Gianluigi Donnarumma (28th , 2-1). The match became more tactical after this new goal and the battle in the middle raged between the two teams. Returning from the locker room, Loïs Openda was on the heels of Claude-Maurice who finished with a shot to deceive the Parisian goalkeeper (47th, 3-1). Brice Samba then proved intractable by deflecting Achraf Hakimi’s heavy strike (54′) with his fists. The Lensois goalkeeper pushed back on his line the recovery of the head of Pablo Sarabia, well served by Nordi Mukiele (75th). PSG could no longer endanger the opposing rear guard and Lens could therefore pocket the three points after a meeting controlled from start to finish or almost. Thanks to this victory, the Lensois return to four points behind the Parisians.
