FC Nantes remains in the race for the Coupe de France. Last winner of the event, the club based in Loire-Atlantique won this Wednesday against Racing Club de Lens in its Beaujoire stadium but behind closed doors (2-1), in the quarter-finals. Yet led by a goal from Seko Fofana (28th), the Canaries were able to reverse the debate thanks to a double from Andy Delort (31st from the penalty spot, 59th from the penalty spot).

“He turned the whistles into applause”

Remained silent until then with his new colors and targeted by his own supporters, the Algerian striker has finally opened his counter for his eighth appearance in all competitions. Enough to give a smile to the former resident of Nice, loaned with a purchase option set at 5 million euros during the last winter transfer window, and to Antoine Kombouaré. Faced with the media after the qualification of his people for the last four, the Nantes coach welcomed the “deflowering” of his player after a complicated start.

“Andy was looking for a first goal and he scored two (…) I’ve been following him for a while. I always thought we would work together. I spent three good years in Lens where I almost brought him. We talked about the whistles suffered in recent matches. He turned the whistles into applause”greeted the Kanak.

Thirteenth in Ligue 1 with a margin of seven points in the red zone and the first to relegate AC Ajaccio, Alban Lafont’s teammates are expected next Saturday against Paris Saint-Germain, at the Parc des Princes, on the occasion of the 26th day. With Andy Delort’s first league goal with Nantes? To be continued…
