Keynsham TTC’s Tanner is Mark-ed out for council honour

Keynsham TTC founder Mark Tanner has been honoured with a Citizen of the Year Award from the local council.

Keynsham Town Council, near Bristol, made the award in recognition of Mark’s contribution in promoting table tennis and sport within the Keynsham Community.

Mark, who set up the club in 2017, said: “It was a really unexpected award and having people in Keynsham voting for me makes it even more special.

“I never imagined that I’d be running a table tennis club but since I started Keynsham TTC as a social club back in the summer of 2017, I’ve enjoyed every second of it! Being able to share this great sport with different ages and faces is fantastic.

“Whatever level people choose to play at, there is always a smile on their faces. It’s been a bonus to help accelerate players into Bath and some into the Bristol leagues.”

Keynsham TTC meets every Thursday evening throughout the year at The Fear Hall in Keynsham High Street from 7pm-9pm. It costs £5 for members and £6 for non-members – annual membership is £15 for 12 months and bulks of 10 or 20 sessions are available.

The sessions are for teenagers and adults of any ability on three match-quality tables with equipment provided.

The club also offers coaching with Level One and Level coaches, with the next five-week block due to start in late May.

Follow the club’s Facebook page for updates.
