Team India’s pace sensation Mohammed Siraj has become the world’s No. 1 ranked bowler in the latest Men’s ODI rankings for the first time in his career. Siraj replaced New Zealand speedster Trent Boult at the top following India’s 3-0 ODI series triumph against the Black Caps.

Notably, Siraj finished the ODI leg against New Zealand as the third highest wicket-takers after picking up five wickets in two games, behind Shardul Thakur and Kuldeep Yadav, who both had six salps to their name. Boult, meanwhile, didn’t travel to India and last played ODI cricket in September last year. The left-handed pacer is currently in third place, with Australian paceman Josh Hazlewood at No. 2.

“India quick Mohammed Siraj has capped off a superb 12 months by claiming the No.1 spot on the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s ODI Player Rankings for bowlers from New Zealand seamer Trent Boult,” wrote ICC.

Similarly, on the batters’ charts, India’s new batting hero Shubman Gill has moved up 20 spots to No. 6 on the batters’ table, one place above Virat Kohli. Gill had a tremendous time with the bat against New Zealand, scoring 360 runs in the three ODIs, including a double-century and a hundred in the final game.

India skipper Rohit Sharma has advanced two places to No. 8 among batters following his 85-ball 101 in the third ODI against New Zealand.

Amongst others, Ireland’s Harry Tector and Joshua Little made significant gains after their recent series against Zimbabwe, which ended 1-1. Tector, who smashed one century and a fifty to total 176 runs across three games, has jumped 12 places up to 13th among ODI batters. Similarly, Little, who was named in the ICC ODI Team of the Year 2022, has moved 27 places to No. 33 among the bowlers.
