Giants ready to deal with ‘brutal’ Philly fans

The New York Giants know what they will be walking into Saturday night when they face the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field in the Divisional Round of the 2023 NFC Playoffs.

A hostile crowd. No, make that a HOSTILE crowd.

Giants’ defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence said Tuesday he told his mother to stay home.

“I told my mom she can’t come to the game because she’ll go back at them [Eagles fans,]” Thomas said. “It should be fun and I’m excited.”

Giants’ left tackle Andrew Thomas said the Giants have an “us against the world” mentality.

“Their crowd is brutal, and it helps when their team is as good as they are,” Thomas said. “We’re looking forward to it, it’s nothing but us against the world so that’s the mentality that we have.”

Giants’ safety Julian Love knows the atmosphere will be “electric” at the Linc.

“Their fans are very passionate. They’re very into it. The team feeds off the crowd,” Love said. It’s a city that loves their football team, for sure.”

Love isn’t going to tell his family not to attend, but he knows what to expect.

“I mean when you think about it, Philly fans on a one o’clock kickoff, they’re hype. They’re fired up,” Love said. “Now you add the eight-p.m. start, they’re tailgating all day. That level of excitement for them is going to be turned up more. They’re a passionate fanbase, not just in football, really in all their sports. So, we’ve got to understand that. Their fans are going to be their fans. Our families will be fine. It’s still a game at the end of the day. But my family’s pretty tough. They can handle anything. So, they’re good.”
