Carcassonne sign former Puma Martín Landajo

Following his season with the American Raptors in Super Rugby Americas, Martín Landajo is returning to France. The former Puma has signed for Nationale side Carcassonne for the 2023-2024 season. He previously played for Perpignan from 2021-2023.

Landajo returns to France in the twilight of his career. The 35-year-old began playing semi-professional rugby for Los Pampas in 2011 and fully professional for Los Jaguares in the team’s rookie Super Rugby season in 2016.

After three years of Super Rugby, Landajo moved to England in 2019. He joined the Harlequins and subsequently played in the Top 14 for Perpignan. He now joins Carcassonne. The club was relegated from the Pro D2 to the Nationale last season.

With 84 test caps to his name, Landajo is Argentina’s second most capped scrum-half behind Tomás Cubelli. They were Argentina’s two scrum-halves at Rugby World Cup 2015. Cubelli is one of three competing at Rugby World Cup 2023 for Argentina.

Landajo is a product of CASI in Buenos Aires. He went through the Buenos Aires High Performance system en route to playing for Argentina at junior levels. He made his test debut for Argentina against Chile in 2008 and became a regular in 2012. His final cap was against Scotland in 2018.
