Billy Foster, no doubts about the Ryder Cup

on

Billy Foster, in his long career, has participated in the Ryder Cup fourteen times.

He brought the bag to Seve Ballesteros, Darren Clarke, Sergio Garcia and Lee Westwood, just to name someone who is part of his “curriculum”.

In Paris he was on Thomas Bjorn’s staff.

Therefore, he is unquestionably one of the Europeans most entitled to contribute to the ongoing debate on the composition of the Teams.

During an interview released on Beyond The Clubhouse, the Briton clearly expressed his conviction.

According to Foster, European players who have signed with LIV Golf should be able to be part of Team Europe.

Obviously he refers to those who have always been the pillars of the European team.

Billy Foster, statements

“Personally, I would like to see people like Westwood, Stenson, Poulter and Garcia get involved again in future editions of the Ryder Cup”

“Of course, we are at a point where they may no longer be players, but they have given so much to the team over the last 20 years, both in the dressing room and on the pitch.”

“I would like them to still be part of the team, perhaps as part of the Captain’s staff, behind the scenes, contributing their experience”

“Probably, though, I don’t know enough; there is a lot of bitterness, and many of the boys do not like the fact of having seen them go on the LIV and to see them come back “

“But they are European players who can be a source of inspiration for young people, and for this I would include them in the team.”

Foster is also among those who think LIV Golf players should be able to take part in DP World Tour tournaments.

“Personally, I just want to see the best players”

“Would you rather see average players or, for example, Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau, Cam Smith, Henrik Stenson, Lee Westwood, Sergio Garcia, Ian Poulter play Wentworth or other tournaments?”

“I’m sure the public would be happy to see them.”
