FC Barcelona aims to recruit Lionel Messi this summer. The 35-year-old Argentinian is at the end of his contract with PSG, and an extension in the French capital currently seems illusory.
With this in mind, the Catalan club hopes to sell many players at the end of the current season. The media Sport looked into the subject, and mentioned the players who will be placed on the transfer list, in the hope of a departure. This season, many elements of the workforce have been loaned, mostly abroad.
This is the case of Samuel Umtiti in Lecce, Clément Lenglet in Tottenham or Francisco Trincao in Sporting CP. The three will not be retained, just like Nico Gonzalez, sent to Valencia. Only Abdessamad Ezzalzouli, loaned to Osasuna, should return to the Blaugrana squad this summer.
Nine Barcelonans sold?
Then, among the players still under the orders of Xavi Hernandez this season, Ansu Fati should look elsewhere. As the Spaniard’s father ranted about the 20-year-old winger’s playing time, The Team revealed that a loan could even be considered for Ansu Fati next summer, if no club wants to transfer the Spaniard permanently.
FC Barcelona will also listen to offers for Ferran Torres, Raphinha, Jordi Alba, as well as Andreas Christensen. The Dane, who arrived free at Barça last year, has a good coast in the Premier League, where several clubs are following him. The Catalan club hopes to recover some 120 million euros with the various sales, during the summer transfer window, all in the hope of signing Lionel Messi.
Mundo Deportivo reveals it says that the seven-time Ballon d’Or is not the only target of FC Barcelona recruitment. The La Liga leader wants to recruit a central defender (Iñigo Martinez is on pole), a right-back (João Cancelo is hoped for), as well as a midfielder (Ilkay Gundogan), or even a striker.
