Bianca Andreescu: I’m at like 75% of what I’m capable of

on

Bianca Andreescu believes she is currently at around 75 or 80% of what she is capable of doing on the court.

On Friday, Andreescu snapped her five-match losing streak against top-10 players when she beat world No 10 Maria Sakkari 5-7 6-3 6-3 in the Miami Open second round.

“I feel like there’s always room for improvement even if I’m feeling like I’m at 100 percent, but I know I’m never at 100 percent because there’s so much that I know I can learn, getting to know my body as well through the years, and just kind of keeping momentum. I think it’s super important, and I feel like I’m starting to get that now a little bit. So with all of that, I feel like I’m at, I would say, 75 percent, 80 percent of what I know I’m capable of,” Andreescu said, per Tennis Majors.

Andreescu slowly regaining her old level

Andreescu, 22, enjoyed a breakthrough season in 2019, when she won a Grand Slam and two WTA 1000 titles.

Also that year, Andreescu achieved a career-high ranking of No 4 in the world.

But since 2019, Andreescu hasn’t won any titles and she is now ranked at No 31 in the world.

However, Andreescu appears to be slowly regaining her old form and a top-10 win against Sakkari will definitely further improve her confidence levels.

“I think it’s just another step in gaining most of my confidence back. I’m feeling really good on the court. I’m trying to be as fearless as I can be. It’s not always easy, but I feel like I’m getting there, and wins like this obviously help with that because at this point I think it’s just me getting matches in and playing tough rounds like this and knowing I can win,” Andreescu said.

After struggling with injuries and mental health issues in the previous years, Andreescu is now healthy again and in a good place mentally.
