Bayern regain top spot from Union after win over Wolfsburg

on

The last day of the 19th day of the Bundesliga offered a good poster between VfL Wolfsburg and Bayern. After Union Berlin’s victory against Mainz (2-1) on Saturday, the Munich residents were two points behind the Berliners, leader of the German championship, before kick-off. Kingsley Coman’s teammates could therefore resume their throne tonight, in the event of victory against Niko Kovac’s players. The French Bayern striker was quick to enter this game by scoring twice before the end of the first quarter of an hour on a superb curled shot (9th, 1-0) then on a recovery after a center from Joao Cancelo (14th, 2-0). Bayern then continued to take advantage of the spaces left by their evening opponent to increase their lead. On an eccentric free kick kicked by Joshua Kimmich, Thomas Müller placed an unstoppable header for Koen Casteels (19th, 3-0).

Julian Nagelsmann’s players then began to purr and Mattias Svanberg came up against Yann Sommer then Jakub Kaminski finally reduced the gap just before the break (44th, 3-1). On returning from the locker room, Wolfsburg began to cross paths there thanks to a first opportunity from Matthias Svanberg who missed his recovery, however alone in the area (52nd) but above all the expulsion with the expulsion of Joshua Kimmich for a second yellow card received ( 54th). Despite this numerical superiority, the locals could not get a hot situation. Worse, Bayern added a layer after a solo rush from Jamal Musiala who took the entire defense from behind (73rd, 4-1). At the end of the game, the locals still reduced the score once again through Mattias Svanberg (80th, 4-2), the only reason for Niko Kovac to be satisfied. Thanks to this victory, the Munich residents therefore take over the throne of the Bundesliga from Union Berlin. For its part, Wolfsburg is at a standstill.
