ASSE fails a former PSG, “it was a mistake”

Holder of a Master’s degree in international law, I realized at the end of my university course that it was important to evolve in a field that we appreciate. Overnight, I decided to put an end to the dream of my parents, who saw me as a future lawyer, to live from my passion: sport. Since then, I have covered mercatos and sports news, trying to inform readers as well as possible.

In search of a scorer after its descent into Ligue 2, ASSE was approached by a former member of the house, Mevlut Erding. When his career at Ümraniyespor had just come to an end, the Turkish international offered his services to the Saint-Etienne club, but the leaders refused to welcome him. A mistake, he says.

Passed by theASSE between 2013 and 2015, Mevlut Erding remained very attached to the Saint-Etienne club. For this reason, the attacker had offered his services to Greens at the end of last season, despite the team’s descent into League 2. In an interview given to People-Green, former goalscorer PSG returned to discussions with ASSE.

Erding offered his services to ASSE

Quite simply, I was going to stop playing football and when I saw my club, I said “my club” because it’s a club that I love, ASSE. Going down to Ligue 2 hurt me terribly. The place of this club is not in Ligue 2 but in the first 7/8 of Ligue 1. With the fervor, the history, the color of the shirt, they must be in the best teams in Ligue 1. I have immediately offered my services. I was clear and I said: I don’t want money, I come to help and frame with my experience. It was an aid to try to bring the club back up. I know that in a locker room, executives are very important and I would have opted for this role in Saint-Étienne ” said Erding. But the player explains that the Saint-Etienne leaders refused this proposal.

“The leaders did not want to and I think it was a mistake”

The leaders did not want to and I think it was a mistake. You saw the start of the season well, it lacked a framework, a leader. In a team that has just descended, you need a backbone, you need guys who don’t accept defeat because you are ASSE. You play every game to win in Ligue 2. They straightened the slope but too late. With 2/3 cheap executives, ASSE would be in the top three” told Erdingwho eventually joined the Racing Besancon. Now retired, the former player is currently passing his coaching diplomas in Turkey.
