Annecy wins and sinks Saint-Etienne

on

At the start of the 16th day of Ligue 2, Annecy received Saint-Etienne. A meeting at the bottom of the table between the 15th and the red lantern of the second level of French football. Barely a few minutes after kick-off, the Saint-Etienne defense was put to the test and had to bow on the first hot situation of the game. Following a cross from Maxime Bastian in front of Matthieu Dreyer’s cages, Moïse Dion Sahi opened the scoring by pushing the leather into the back of the net (2nd, 1-0). Annecy showed efficiency and realism against a rather attacking Saint-Etienne but lacking in inspiration to shake up the solid and compact defense of the Savoyards.

Back from the locker room, the locals did the same thing again and quickly doubled the lead after a misunderstanding in the Saint-Etienne defense between Matthieu Dreyer and his defender, Léo Pétrot. Moïse Dion Sahi offered himself a double while remaining on the lookout after a first strike well stopped by the doorman of the Greens (51st, 2-0). At the dawn of the last quarter of an hour, Léo Pétrot gave a little hope to the visitors. Following a mess, the defender slipped the ball into the opposing skylight (76th, 2-1). While the Greens insisted on equalizing, Florian Escales allowed his side to keep this result until the end of the match. For his first in his new club, Gaëtan Charbonnier, who entered during the game, also had opportunities to equalize but without success. A victory that allows Annecy to move up to 13th place while Saint-Etienne remains dead last.
