MLW heavyweight champion Alexander Hammerstone recently appeared on the Wrassingh Show to discuss a number of different industry-related topics, which included The Hammer addressing his Brock Lesnar comparisons, whether he has any interest in wrestling The Beast, and how the two actually met once prior. Highlights from the interview can be found below.
Says people tell him all the time that he looks like Brock Lesnar:
“It used to really bother me because it felt like no matter what I did, I was just doing one comparison to get stuck in the next one. That being said, I’ve never been compared to Crash Holly or somebody like that, I’ve always been compared to a top guy, a mega superstar. Those are some comparisons to be proud of. Maybe it’s just the man-bun, but these days, I can’t even go to the grocery store without someone telling me I look like Brock Lesnar. It makes me chuckle. If I’m able to, not only bring that look to the ring, but illicit some of those same emotions and that same presence, those are some good guys to be compared to. At this point, I’ll take it as a compliment.”
On potentially having a match with Lesnar:
“Talk about having confidence and not being intimidated, that might be a match where I have to recant those statements. Going into the ring with Brock Lesnar, I don’t care what level you’re at, that’s got to be one of the most intimidating things you can do.”
Says he did meet Lesnar once:
“I met Brock Lesnar one time, just in passing, doing the kind of work you do with WWE. Nothing more than a handshake and a hello. He had that intimidation factor about him, just in that brief passing moment.”
