Alex Fuchs joins the Ohio State University!

New addition for 17th time Big Ten winner Ohio State University. Ohio State Director of Tennis Ty Tucker announced the signing of Blue Chip recruit Alex Fuchs to a national letter of intent.

Fuchs is the son of Mark and Becky Fuchs. He has an older sister Elizabeth who played Division III college tennis and an older brother Zach who currently plays tennis at Brigham Young University. Fuchs plans to graduate high school a year early and will enroll at Ohio State this fall.

Fuchs is currently ranked #1 in the USTA Boys 18s in Northern California and #6 in the nation. He was also ranked 17th in his class according to tennisrecruiting.com.

He is currently coached by Joey Johnson in Orange County California and has been coached by Steve Roberts in the San Francisco Bay Area and by Steve Smith in South Florida. Steve is the father of Connor Smith, a former Buckeye.

The boy said: “I am so thankful for the opportunity to represent Scarlet and Gray. I look forward to working with my teammates, coaches and staff to become the best I can be athletically, academically and spiritually. I look forward to Time to get started! Go Bucks!”

Associate Head Coach Justin Kronauge added, “I am very excited to welcome Alex to the Buckeye family. Myself and the other coaches can’t wait to get him on campus to start work. He has an extremely bright future at Ohio State.”

Fuchs and his partner Emon van Loben Sels won the 2022 USTA Boys 18s National Indoor Doubles Championships at Overland Park, Kan. last fall. He also helped Northern California win the team championship last summer in the inaugural USTA Battle of the Sections in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Tucker explained: “We are so excited to announce the signing of Alex Fuchs. We have had a great time recruiting this young man and his family. What stands out is how much Alex wants to play tennis and compete at the highest level. Coach Kro and I believe that Alex may be a very successful college tennis player and we can’t wait to get started with him this summer. He’s a great size and has been trained so well up to this point in his career.”
