The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is currently underway, and it is as popular as ever. The tournament is a great source of entertainment for cricket fans, and it is also a great way for people to connect with their favourite celebrities.

Apart from common people, the connection between the entertainment industry and cricket is undeniable. Two Bollywood superstars, Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta, own franchises in the IPL. Several other actors have also expressed their love for the sport, including Ranveer Singh, Anil Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna.

The IPL has become a platform for celebrities to show their support for the sport. They often attend matches and cheer on their favourite teams. They also use their social media platforms to promote the tournament and encourage people to watch it.

Recently, South Indian actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu made an appearance on the sets of Star Sports India – the official broadcaster of the IPL. During her interaction with the sports presenter and anchor Bhavna Balakrishnan, Samantha revealed the name of her favourite cricketer.

And guess what? It’s neither Virat Kohli nor Rohit Sharma! Infact, Samantha is a die-hard fan of former India captain MS Dhoni. “I like Dhoni,” she said.

When quizzed about her favourite team in the IPL, Samantha was quick to name Dhoni’s team – Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

In the ongoing IPL 2023 season, Dhoni has mainly batted at number 8 for CSK, but he has played impactful cameos, giving his side the perfect finish and joy to his fans who have been filling stands not just in Chennai but all over the country. Many believe this will be Dhoni’s last IPL season, though he has not confirmed it.
