Eric Roy, Stade Brestois Brest

In the fight to maintain, Brest announced on Wednesday the recruitment of a renowned French striker. After the draw against Olympique Lyonnais at Groupama Stadium (0-0, 21st day of Ligue 1), SB29 coach Eric Roy confirmed at a press conference the arrival in his ranks of Loïc Rémy, free of any contract . Aged 36, the former Olympique de Marseille and Olympique Lyonnais player had been training for a few days with the Breton club, 15th in the standings one length from the red zone and AC Ajaccio, first relegation.

“It’s going to take time”

The successor on the bench of Lucien Favre warns that his latest recruit is not yet fit for service. “Loïc signed at the end of the transfer window. We must be very clear, this is the speech we gave him. We know he’s not ready, we know he won’t be ready within a fortnight. We’ll take him. We know that it will be the icing on the cake over the last two or three months. We are very lucid and aware. I was a player. I know what it’s like to train without being in a group. Nothing like games and competition. Running alone, doing intermittent work, that has nothing to do with football. This is another thing. It will take time. We will make sure to bring it little by little. We hope he will score two or three goals which will allow us to achieve our objectives by the end of the championship.”

Without a club since his departure from the Turkish formation of Adama Demirspor, the player with 31 caps and 7 goals with the Blues has 211 Ligue 1 games since the start of his career, for 71 goals.
