In addition to being the thirtieth Royal Rumble, this mark’s the 20-year-anniversary since WWE broke Alamodome attendance records with the Royal Rumble in 1997. The original attendance claimed by WWE for the ’97 ‘Rumble headlined by Shawn Michaels and Psycho Sid for the WWE Championship was 60,525. The overall record for the building, however, is 73,086, which was set by George Strait in 2013.
