Whats new this Wrestlemania ?

As plans for WrestleMania 33 continue to be finalized by WWE, there are a lot of things still up in the air. There are now just two months until the biggest pay-per-view (PPV) of the year, and there are a lot of things going on backstage. It is never much of a surprise that WWE will bring back former superstars to appear or even have a match at WrestleMania, and that is what’s rumored to be taking place now.

There are always going to be former talents coming in for WrestleMania whether it is for a match, to give a promo, or even a gimmick battle royal. Not surprisingly, 2017 is turning out to be no different, as the Wrestling Observer (via Wrestling Inc.) says that WWE is doing it again and reaching out to former superstars to show up in Orlando in April.

WWE has reportedly been reaching out to a lot of former female superstars in hopes of getting them to appear at WrestleMania 33. It isn’t quite known what they would be doing at the PPV, but the company does want them there for something.

A number of different options have been thrown around for the women’s matches at WrestleMania, but nothing has been cemented in place as of yet.

Over on Monday Night Raw, four women have become the focal point as Charlotte Flair, Nia Jax, Bayley, and Sasha Banks are all in the spotlight together. Talk of Charlotte and Nia teaming together against Bayley and Sasha has been thrown around, but it has already been seen. There could also be a Fatal 4-Way Match for the Raw Women’s Title, but that would take some work.

Give Me Sports reports that Sasha Banks may end up in a match against Monday Night Raw commissioner Stephanie McMahon at WrestleMania 33, but that seems like a bit of a stretch. If that match were to happen, a program would need to be started now.

If former talents are being brought in by WWE, who will work with the women on the Raw or SmackDown Live roster?

Over on SmackDown, there are a lot of different feuds in place, and some of them will come to a boiling point at the Elimination Chamber in under two weeks. Naomi is challenging Alexa Bliss for the title while Nikki Bella and Natalya will battle it out in a match that is a long time coming.

That still leaves Becky Lynch and the recently returned Mickie James (La Luchadora), who have been greatly involved in major storylines for months now. Obviously, the majority of these female superstars will be at WrestleMania 33, but in what capacity?

With so many great female talents on both rosters, it is quite odd that WWE is looking at bringing former superstars in for the pay-per-view. Even with the longer runtime, it won’t be easy to give so many women their deserving spots on the card without having them overshadow one another.

Either way, it isn’t yet known which former talents have been contacted by the company and which ones may end up accepting, but some will definitely show up.

It is a bit too early to figure out more than just some of the matches that WWE will have on the card for WrestleMania 33, but many others are a bit cloudy. With a number of hours to fill, there will be at least two women’s matches and two titles to defend, but they may not even be up for grabs. Contacting past superstars and former talent also makes it seem as if the Raw and SmackDown Women’s Titles won’t be on the line, but maybe a female battle royal.
