Update on Why Fenix Was Pulled From Double or Nothing

on

During the week we reported that Fenix was cleared to wrestle at Double or Nothing, only for AEW to announce he was being replaced by Joey Janela a couple days later. The issue is that Fenix was originally cleared, despite still being in a lot of pain, but when he arrived in town on Friday he was limping. It’s being reported that Fenix was against pulling out of the match, but officials made the call for him. Fenix is known for wrestling even when in a lot of pain, so they had to step in on his behalf.

Fenix was originally scheduled to be a part of the Casino Ladder match which would see the winner earning an automatic title match against the AEW World Heavyweight champion. The match was inevitably won by a debuting Brian Cage.

There’s currently no timetable on Fenix’s return, however, according to AEW’s official Twitter account it shouldn’t be very long.
