University of Michigan men’s tennis team defeat Brown University 4-0

University of Michigan men’s tennis team defeat Brown University 4-0 at the Varsity Tennis Center.

As reported by the University website, Will Cooksey and Nicholas Steiglehner played together for the first time this season, winning 6-2 at No. 3 to quickly get UM to the halfway point to take a 1-0 team lead.

Patrick Maloney and Ondrej Styler improved to 3-0 with a 6-3 win at no. Andrew Fenty and Gavin Young, No. 14 in the nation. Steiglehner continued to outrun his No. 6 opponents as he quickly defeated Mu 6-0, 6-1 to give Michigan a 2-0 lead early.

Jacob Bickersteth dropped just one game in his first set, 6-1 and found himself down 2-1 in the second, but won the next three to make it 4-2. He finished off Alex Koong 6-3 to improve to 8-2 on the season and gave Michigan a 3-0 lead over Brown.

Fenty clinched the game for the Wolverines in a No. 2 win over Noah Hernandez. After winning a first set 6-1, Hernandez struggled in the second to take a 5-3 lead. Fenty controlled the next four games to a 6-3 finish and improved to 18-2 in singles.
