– The dark match before tonight’s WWE SmackDown from Madison Square Garden in New York City saw Ali defeat Buddy Murphy.
– Tonight’s SmackDown episode from MSG saw The Undertaker return to The World’s Most Famous Arena.
Taker opened the show with an in-ring segment but was interrupted by Sami Zayn. Zayn insulted Taker and talked about how he is the future of WWE, and how Taker should pass him the torch. That led to Taker ending the segment with a chokeslam in the middle of the ring.
