Funny month of February for FC Barcelona. Solid leaders of La Liga, the Catalans have however experienced a lot of mishaps in recent weeks. First of all on the ground where they were eliminated from the Europa League last Thursday against Manchester United (2-1), but especially from the extra-sporting point of view where the Negreira affair has infected the club since its revelation. If a lot of influential figures in Spanish football have already spoken on this subject, it is around the former sporting vice-president of Barça to speak in an interview granted to the RAC1. The latter denies the existence of an agreement with arbitration to favor the Blaugranas at that time.

“I’m surprised and annoyed because to combine this with the fact that we received favorable treatment from the referees is entelechy. We lost a league title at Camp Nou against Atlético because of a disallowed goal which was a goal and we had a disallowed goal at Betis when the ball went in from a yard. (…) I did not know about the relationship with Enriquez Negreira. I never seen him in my life. Neither him nor his son. I knew that there were reports that were transmitted for the first team and the reserve team. They forwarded them to me, but it was a technical matter and I told them not to forward them to me. These were arbitration reports. (…) It’s a very high cost, it’s a scandal. A leader, to be paid half a million a year, must be very good. Of course, if, as they say, it was to buy referees, they cheated on us because they did us a disservice. If I had known the price, I would have asked for an explanation”.
