Mexx Meerdink wants to continue fueling the tradition of Dutch players at Barcelona. The young striker from Alkmaar, freshly crowned European champion in the Youth League with his club, and haloed with the title of co-top scorer in the competition, proclaimed his love for the Catalan club in an interview with the Dutch program Khalidandamp;Sophie.
“The club I would like to play for one day? Barcelona», said the 19-year-old striker, who scored 9 goals in 6 Youth League games this season with Alkmaar, including two in the final. Already tracked by several European clubs, the young Batavian striker made his debut with the AZ first team in early March. Last Thursday, he even participated in the quarter-final second leg of the Europa League Conference between his club and Anderlecht, by scoring the winning shot on goal (2-0, 4-1 tab).
