It was the beautiful story of this Thursday evening. Called up for the first time in his career by Roberto Mancini, Mateo Retegui (23), striker of Club Atlético Tigre (Argentina D1), honored his first selection with the Nazionale with a goal during his team’s defeat against the England (1-2). The Italo-Argentinian, who does not speak a single word of Italian, reacted to this particular evening for him.
“I’m sad about the loss, but very happy with my debut in this shirt, it’s the one I wanted to wearsaid the player who has never left Argentina since the start of his career. It’s a shame because I was hoping to start with a victory. The teammates welcomed me with great affectionhe added, before discussing his goal. I looked for him the whole first half, he arrived in the second. It’s nice but obviously, I would have preferred to win.
