Stefanos Tsitsipas took a moment to express his gratitude to every Greek fan who helped Greece set its new Drecord-breaking attendance number in the Davis Cup.
This past weekend, Tsitsipas led Greece to a 3-1 win over Ecuador as Greece has now been promoted to the World Group I after 19 years.
Also, Greece set a new record-breaking attendance number as 12,400 Greeks came out to support their nation.
“We are deeply humbled by the unwavering support of the record-breaking 12,400 Greeks who attended the Davis Cup tie against Ecuador. To have played in front of such a large and enthusiastic crowd, who came together to write history, is a truly unforgettable experience. The passion and energy of this magnificent gathering was felt on and off the court, and it is a proud moment for all Greeks. We are honored to have been a part of this historical moment and to have represented the blue and white colors with distinction. Thank you, Greece, for making this a day we will always cherish,” Tsitsipas wrote in his Instagram post.

Tsitsipas delivered for Greece against Ecuador
On Saturday, Tsitsipas defeated world No 735 Alvaro Guillen Meza 7-5 6-2.
The following day, Tsitsipas beat 571st-ranked Andres Andrade 7-6 (1) 6-1 to clinch the key third point for Greece.
Tsitsipas, who played in the Australian Open final just a few days earlier, was evidently not at his best very best during the Davis Cup weekend.
Many players in Tsitsipas’ position would have simply skipped the Davis Cup but not Tsitsipas, who wanted to lead his country to a big Davis Cup win.
Tsitsipas has once again proved that he is very committed to representing Greece in the Davis Cup.
Recently, Tsitsipas revealed that one of his goals is to win an Olympic gold medal for Greece and to also lead his country to a Davis Cup title.
It remains to be seen if 24-year-old Tsitsipas can accomplish those two goals in the rest of his career.
