Scolari scores a contender for the bench of Brazil

on

After Tite’s departure at the end of the 2022 World Cup, the Brazilian Football Federation seem to be moving towards a foreign coach to lead the band to Neymar.

Luiz Felipe Scolari

Indeed, according to information relayed by the press, the French Zinédine Zidane, the Italian Carlo Ancelotti, the Portuguese Abel Ferreira or the Spaniard Luis Enrique are all in the sights of the Federation to coach the Seleção, eliminated in the quarter of final of the last World Cup. While the last city seems to have a head start now, the former coach of Brazil, Luiz Felipe Scolari, spoke to denigrate the record of the former coach of Spain and FC Barcelona.

According to the Italo-Brazilian, who led the Portuguese selection (2003-2008), Luis Enrique is not the ideal man, because his record is not impressive enough, unlike that of José Mourinho for example : “What did Luis Enrique win? It must be efficient. He is very good, but he has lost everything. What does it mean that it is good? (José) Mourinho won everything for him.”

That said, Luis Felipe Scolari has obviously badly reviewed Luis Enrique’s track record. The 52-year-old Spaniard, defeated with La Roja in the round of 16 of the Qatari World Cup, won the Champions League, La Liga, the European Super Cup, the Club World Cup, the Spanish Cup in 2015 with FC Barcelona. Before doing it again, concerning La Liga and the Spanish Cup, in 2016.

Scolari does not want a European

Luis Felipe Scolari then described the ideal profile, according to him, to succeed Tite: “If I can coach other national teams (besides Brazil), why can’t they (the Europeans)? If they have quality, they should be our coach. What I think is that it would be easier to hire a South American than a European.”

However, the ex-Chelsea coach recently supported Portuguese Abel Ferreira. The latter is currently training the Palmeiras club in Brazil.
