Rory McIlroy, the argument with Patrick Reed

on

Rags fly and also a tee between Patrick Reed and Rory McIlroy. This is what was documented by TenGolf and ended up on the social networks of half the golfing world. The Spanish site has in fact immortalized a not exactly elegant approach between the number one in the world in the field and the number one in the world in sympathy.

Rory McIlroy, statements

It happened in Dubai, on the eve of the first day of the Hero Desert Classic, the second 2023 tournament of the Rolex Series organized and played on the DP World Tour.

During a break on the driving range, Patrick Reed can be seen in the footage approaching the Northern Irish team and saying hello to Harry Diamond, Rory’s caddy. The American waits for a few seconds to greet and/or shake hands with McIlroy who instead does not seem to have the slightest intention of reciprocating. In fact, grappling with his bag, Rory doesn’t even look at the American. The American gets the hint, goes into a boil and, as he walks away, turns around and throws a tee in the direction of the Northern Irishman.

A gesture that has not gone unnoticed thanks to the social tam tam and that McIlroy explained this way. “I was sued by his lawyer on Christmas Eve, just as I was peacefully spending time with my family. I therefore think that Reed is out of touch with reality, in his place I would not expect a greeting or a handshake ”.

That Reed is a guy with an easy complaint is certainly not new. The professional has sued both the Golf Channel and his expert, Brandel Chamblee, for defamation. According to him, the network and insider conspired with the CEO of the PGA Tour to defame Reed.

The American is one of the players who has been playing on a permanent basis at LIV Golf for a few months. According to his lawyer, McIlroy along with Tiger Woods and Davis Love III are in cahoots with the PGA Tour to destroy the Arab SuperLeague.

Rory has been engaged since 2011 to the Danish tennis player Caroline Wozniacki, already number one in the WTA rankings, forming one of the most famous young couples in international sport. On May 21, 2014, however, the two broke off their relationship shortly before the wedding. On April 22, 2017, he married Erica Stoll, a 29-year-old from Florida who works for the PGA, whom he met at the 2012 Ryder Cup, and to whom he was engaged on May 31, 2015.
