ROH Officially Announces RUSH vs Matt Taven For The World Title At Death Before Dishonor

Ring of Honor issued the following press release announcing their headlining bout for the September 27th Death Before Dishonor pay per view from Las Vegas Nevada. RUSH, who has not been pinned or submitted since joining the company, will challenge Matt Taven for the ROH world championship. Details are below.

It’s Official: Undefeated RUSH Faces World Champ Matt Taven For The Title At Death Before Dishonor

RUSH already knew he had a shot at the ROH World Title at the Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view in Las Vegas on Sept. 27. Now the undefeated Mexican star knows who he will be facing.

Matt Taven guaranteed that he will walk into Death Before Dishonor as the ROH World Champion by successfully defending his title against Volador Jr. at the Global Wars Espectacular tour stop in Chicago on Sept. 7.

RUSH and Taven are certainly no strangers to one another. The bad blood between them dates back to last year’s CMLL 85th Anniversary Show last September, when RUSH and Barbaro Cavernario defeated Taven and Volador Jr. in a Hair vs. Hair Match.

Taven “welcomed” RUSH to ROH two months later by leading fellow Kingdom members Vincent and TK O’Ryan in a three-on-one beatdown of RUSH with chairs. Their most recent encounter took place at the Global Wars Espectacular show in Milwaukee on Sept. 8.

After RUSH and Jeff Cobb defeated Taven and Vincent in a tag match, Taven and Vincent disposed of Cobb and double-teamed RUSH. Taven hit RUSH’s own Bull’s Horns finisher on him. Taven then mocked RUSH by doing his “tranquilo” pose and standing over him with his foot on his chest.

Needless to say, an enraged RUSH is counting the days until can get his hands on Taven. However, despite RUSH’s volatile nature and unblemished record in ROH, Taven does not appear to be intimidated by “El Toro Blanco.”

Taven has defeated an impressive list of challengers, including two previously undefeated competitors in Cobb and PCO, and he said that he cannot wait to add RUSH’s name to the list.
