Phinsider Question Of The Day: Replacement Via The Draft Edition

The beginning of this year’s NFL free agency period was a hard pill for many Miami Dolphins fans to swallow. Some big names and multiple starters signed with new clubs, with some signing giant deals that the Dolphins had zero intentions of matching. Some of the big names now gone from the roster either by signing with someone else or via being cut by the Phins include DT Christian Wilkins (Raiders for $110 million), G Robert Hunt (Panthers for $100 million), CB Xavien Howard (free agent, cut); LB Jerome Baker (free agent, cut), LB Andrew Van Ginkel (Vikings for $20 million), S Brandon Jones (Broncos for $20 million), DE Emmanuel Ogbah (free Agent, cut), DT Raekwon Davis (Colts for $14 million), and S DeShon Elliott (Steelers for $6 million) among others.

The Dolphins also signed several players in free agency, many of them to fill holes that had been created by players signing elsewhere or by the team cutting players. Some of these players are guys you can say are at the end of their careers. Some of these guys might still have something to prove while still having something left in the tank, and others might just flat-out be out of gas once the whistle blows. Either way, most of these guys were signed for the here and now and not as some future or long-term answer to a particular position that needed to be filled.

So tonight’s question is, which of the starters who were lost either via free agency or by being cut would you like to see the Dolphins draft a long-term replacement for in this year’s draft? Which of the players lost do you see as the priority to replace sooner rather than later?
