Paula Badosa, Ons Jabeur set to debut as doubles duo at Miami Open

Paula Badosa and Ons Jabeur have signed up to play doubles together at the Miami Open.

Badosa, 25, and 28-year-old Jabeur are set to debut as a doubles team in Miami.

In the Miami doubles first round, Badosa and Jabeur will be taking on Anna Danilina and Asia Muhammad.

Danilina and Muhammad also don’t have much experience of playing together as they just made their debut at this past Indian Wells edition.

In Indian Wells, Danilina and Muhammad didn’t impress in their debut as they were beaten in the first round.

Badosa and Jabeur, one of the top singles players in the game, will certainly like their chances against Danilina and Muhammed.

There are question marks regarding Jabeur’s fitness

Jabeur, who underwent minor knee surgery in early February, returned to action in Indian Wells.

But after beating Magdalena Frech in her Indian Wells opener, Jabeur admitted that she probably returned too early.

“It’s a tough decision to come back, and I was the one that insisted that I come back in Indian Wells and Miami. It was probably too early to come back, but I just made it a new challenge for myself. I did regret it after the first set (smiling). But then I just told myself to accept what’s happening, to fight through it, and to just see how it goes. I’m sure it will get better and better every match,” Jabeur said in Indian Wells.

Also, Jabeur gave one very cryptic message.

“The knee is getting there. Physically I obviously need more time. But when the time is right, I’ll tell you what was going on really. I’m sorry, I cannot talk about it right now. But it is more than that. So it was very challenging for me health-wise. I’m gonna see what’s gonna happen,” Jabeur said.

It remains to be seen how good and healthy Jabeur will look in Miami.
