Elye Wahi Stijn Spierings Montpellier Toulouse

Is it the uncertainty around the future of Alexis Sanchez (34) that is pushing OM to be so active on an offensive track? The Chilean has indeed hinted that it is possible for him to leave Marseille at the end of the season. The former player of Barça and Inter, ambitious, indeed wants to win titles, and OM, this season, will not offer him any, except for a big turnaround in L1 (OM accuses 10 points behind PSG).

This is why Pablo Longoria and more generally the sports management of OM are active on a striker. According to information from The Team, the Marseille club, in addition to an interest in Folarin Balogun (loaned to Reims by Arsenal), took a first step towards the Frenchman from Montpellier, Elye Wahi. OM have surveyed the 20-year-old striker’s entourage, who would not be against leaving Montpellier, his training club, this summer.

Wahi is aiming for a more upscale club in L1?

Guest in the week of the radio France Blue Heraultthe striker, who has scored 10 goals in 23 L1 appearances this season (with 2 assists), gave an update on his future: “Stay in Ligue 1? Why not. I always told myself not to skip the steps, I want to take it little by little. We will see what is offered to me but as I have always said, for the moment, I am at Montpellier Hérault and I am very well there. We’ll see where the wind takes us.”

Not long ago, Elye Wahi, followed by Nice or Monaco this winter, was cited on the side of Tottenham. The attacker, who does not want “skip the steps”, could join a superior club in Montpellier, while remaining in L1. This gives OM a chance, but also Nice or Monaco, against Spurs.
