WWE officials reportedly have had plans to do Sasha Banks vs. SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley at the 2020 SummerSlam pay-per-view.
Regarding the match, word is that WWE wants to extend the feud as they see more potential in drawing it out instead of rushing it, according to Wrestletalk.
One of the reasons for delaying Banks vs. Bayley is because of the location that SummerSlam was originally set to take place. As we’ve noted, SummerSlam was previously announced for Boston, where Banks grew up and began wrestling, but that location is expected to be changed due to COVID-19. WWE felt that having Banks vs. Bayley in Boston would have generated the best reaction for Banks, who would be the babyface in the match.
It was noted that while Banks vs. Bayley is not completely off the table right now, officials are considering other options for the SmackDown Women’s Title at SummerSlam.
