The Premier League was back this Saturday with the 21st day. After numerous oppositions throughout the afternoon, including a disappointing clash between Liverpool and Chelsea at Anfield (0-0), Newcastle, 4th just a small point from the podium and from Manchester United, moved to face Crystal Palace, 12th in the English championship, for the last poster of the day. While the ambient cold put the organisms to the test, Patrick Vieira’s players managed to contain the onslaught of the visitors but they struggled to be dangerous on the other side of the field.
When they returned from the locker room, the two teams were looking to make a difference. Nevertheless, the defenses continued to get the better of the attacks and the score did not move in the second half either. However, Jean-Philippe Mateta, returned shortly after the hour mark, got himself a superb opportunity but the former Chateauroux player fell on a Nick Pope of the big nights (73rd). About ten minutes later, Alexander Isak placed a header which ended in the gloves of the opposing porter (80th) then Allan Saint-Maximin, in a good situation, missed his control and then completely missed his shot (89th). In the standings, despite this draw, Newcastle, undefeated for 15 games in the Premier League, climbed the podium, on the last step, returning to Manchester United thanks to a better goal difference.
