Nantes: the Mostafa Mohamed paradox

on

Arrived last summer from Galatasaray, Egyptian striker Mostafa Mohamed (25) made a promising start with FC Nantes. Top scorer of the club 9 goals and 4 assists in all competitions (tied with Ludovic Blas) with the Canaries, the Egyptian international is however not an indisputable holder in the eyes of Antoine Kombouaré as he has moreover explained at the microphone of West France after the draw torn on the wire against Nice (2-2) at La Beaujoire on a goal from… Mostafa Mohamed.

“I have no problem with any of my players. Ganago and Delort are, in my opinion, ahead of him. There is strong competition. I prefer this situation where he enters and he scores, it works for us. He mustn’t let go, I’m not letting go anyway. I trust him. But, I understood, I believe that at some point, I will have to make him play more because the players have to be made happy.. A real paradox therefore for a player who is often decisive and outstripped by a duo much less effective than him. If the qualities of scorer are not debated, the question of the continuation of the Nantes adventure will necessarily and quickly come back on the table. Starting perhaps with a Ligue 1 match to be played next Friday at La Beaujoire against OL.
