Matteo Berrettini defended by his brother: “It seems very disrespectful to me”

Matteo Berrettini failed to dispel the Miami taboo, a tournament that he played three times without ever winning a single game, and he lost on his debut against Mackenzie McDonald. The Italian tennis player fought until the last 15 but did not win any of the two tie-breaks that decided the match.

Excluding the United Cup, for Berrettini it is the fourth defeat of the season in the ATP Tour. In 2022, the Italian was forced to miss the entire clay season due to an operation on his right hand and therefore will not be defending points until Roland Garros.

Berrettini’s goal is precisely to raise his head during the European season on clay and recover important positions in the standings.

Jacopo Berrettini: “The criticisms of my brother are disrespectful”

Melissa Satta joined Berrettini in Miami last week and, on the occasion of her match against McDonald, she made her first appearance in the blue’s box.

The relationship between the two has unfortunately divided the world of the web, which has taken a rather tough attitude with Berrettini. The Italian has received various criticisms, often unjustified, precisely because of the new story with Melissa Satta.

Jacopo Berrettini wanted to defend Matteo in an exclusive interview with OA Sport.

“I think he replied with a very recent interview and there is not much to say or add to what he said. It seems to me very bad and disrespectful to question something that is very beautiful, because we know how beautiful a human relationship or a relationship like that can be. Surely his work leads him to expose himself a little more.

I don’t feel like saying anything other than what he said. Everything he’s experiencing isn’t affecting his tennis, but rather other things, one of them being his injuries. These things are mentioned too little. I’m happy for him that he has this relationship, the rest counts for little,” explained Jacopo Berrettini.
