After being asked by Tennis Channel, WTA world number 7 Maria Sakkari revealed what is her favorite French romantic line while she was at this year’s Roland Garros. Her answer was much different from what the other players said.
“Voulez vous couchez avec mois? (Do you want to sleep with me?)” Sakkari said. You can watch the Greek and the other players’ answers in the video below.
As you can see in the video, the most popular answer was “je t’aime (I love you).”
Sakkari lost early at Roland Garros
Even though she got to share a romantic preference, Maria Sakkari’s performance at the Roland Garros has been disappointing. As the 8th seed in the Grand Slam, the Greek was kicked out in the first round by Karolina Muchova, the same player who eliminated her last year.
The result was somewhat surprising since Sakkari had confessed before the French Open that she was in a much better place. “We played last year here, I was in a very dark place, mentally. I wasn’t anywhere near compared to how I feel this year, mentally, physically, tennis-wise and everything,” Sakkari told rolandgarros.com. Sakkari, who will be turning 28 in July, admits there are still times when she might feel down. However, Sakkari knows better how to deal with such situations. “There are situations where I might get myself back into but now I know how to get over them, and I just feel like everything in life is a learning lesson.
At the end of the day life is not just going up. You always have your ups and downs and I just have to accept that and get out of it stronger,” Sakkari added.
