on

Marco Cecchinato will marry his partner Gaia. From training in Spain with world number one Carlos Alcaraz, to a marriage proposal: this was in fact the social week of the Italian tennis player, who in 2018 had gone as far as the semifinal of Roland Garros. After the victory against Novak Djokovic, he was then defeated by Dominic Thiem in the semifinals, indeed.

Now the Italian tennis player has slipped to position 101 in the ranking, but in this last week he has been in Spain, where he trained with Carlos Alcaraz: to immortalize the moment, the photo that portrays the two players with their respective coaches.

The following Instagram post is of a completely different tenor. “She said yes!” This is the only description that accompanies the photo that portrays Cecchinato with his partner, Gaia. The tennis player announced on social media that he will marry his partner, as well as the mother of his son Edoardo, had in 2018.

In the comments, some colleagues came to congratulate Tatiana Garbin, captain of the Italian women’s team of the Billie Jean King Cup, who left a heart. Flavia Pennetta also expressed herself with good wishes accompanied by three hearts.

Fabio Fognini, husband of the winner of the US Open 2015, on the other hand, used an ironic tone to congratulate: “FINISHED… Best wishes guys” Cecchinato did not hesitate to answer: “I know!!!”

Cecchinato’s 2022

For Cecchinato, 2022 was an opportunity to rediscover his tennis.

In this troubled season, two Challenger titles arrived, both in the first half of October: the first on clay in Lisbon. The second, on the same surface, in Rio de Janeiro. The latter was the tournament that allowed him to regain the top 100, returning to number 98 in the world.

A position that he lost in the last few weeks of the year and returned to the threshold of the top 100 in the world. The year is over and now Cecchinato is preparing for 2023, in view of new objectives to be signed and new goals to be achieved.
