Laurent Blanc and the thorny Malo Gusto case

Loaned by Chelsea to OL after having recruited him this winter, Malo Gusto was unfortunately injured and had to be absent for a few weeks. Without him, the Gones saw Saël Kumbedi gaining momentum while the future Blues player had a hard time returning to the team with an own goal scored at the very end of the match against OM. His case was not easy to manage for Laurent Blanc, caught between the directives of the Lyon and London medical teams.

“The situation is complex. When two medical staff agree it can do it but when they don’t agree, how do you do it? Now Malo is cured and he will go to Chelsea at his new club after the season. There is no Malo problem. Unfortunately, he got injured. He could have given us the benefit of his speed, his technique. But Sael (Kumbedi) replaced him well” notes the OL coach at a press conference, two days away from going to Strasbourg.
