Green Bay Packers WR Allen Lazard

The New York Jets have agreed to a four-year deal with Green Bay Packers wide receiver Allen Lazard, according to a report from The Score’s Jordan Schultz. Lazard’s deal is worth $44 million over four years, with $22 million in guarantees.

The Packers picked up Lazard as an undrafted free agent in 2018, working him into a starting role over the course of his three seasons. Lazard is coming off his highest-volume season yet, catching 60 passes on 100 targets for 788 yards and six touchdowns. He finished the year 24th in receiving DYAR and 29th in receiving DVOA.

Lazard is reunited with New York Jets offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, who held the same role with Green Bay. He posted two of his three best seasons by DYAR under Hackett and had a fifth-best DVOA performance in 2021.

The Jets sign Lazard in the midst of active trade negotiations with Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. According to ESPN’s Dianna Russini, Rodgers provided the Jets with a “wish list” of free agents he would like the team to sign. Lazard was one of the first names mentioned on that list.

Man, that’d be funny if Rodgers decided to announce his retirement after this signing.
