Jannik Sinner said losing to Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon helped him

After the burning disappointments of the Internazionali d’Italian in Rome and, especially, of the Roland Garros on clay, Jannik Sinner is back on the court, this time on a different surface like grass. At the beginning of his career, the Italian tennis player did not seem to like this surface but he gradually made important steps forward.

Now, after last year’s Wimbledon quarterfinals, Jannik seems ready to take an even higher step. This week the Italian number one is playing the Dutch tournament at Hertogenbosch and Sinner is the second seeded player in the tournament behind Daniil Medvedev.

Good debut for Jannik who beat the Kazakh Alexander Bublik in his first match. After a fairly hard-fought first set, a storyless match in the second set with Bublik grappling with the usual non-tennis controversies and Sinner winning with the result of 6-4;6-2.

Some progress, and now the Italian will better prepare for the next match, the one against the Finnish Emil Ruusuvuori.

In the post-match press conference Jannik dealt with many interesting topics and a total reference to a surface such as grass could not be missing.

Jannik will therefore play tomorrow’s quarterfinals and Sinner recalled his debut here in Holland in 2019, as reported by Sport Virgilio: “It was the first time for me at the time and I didn’t know how to move, but it was a great experience for me and my best memory until the Quarterfinals at Wimbledon last year.

The victory against Alcaraz and the defeat in five sets against Novak Djokovic gave me great confidence in view of this new season on grass.”

Sinner also spoke of his private life, revealing a couple of curiosities: “At work I am a very serious person, but outside I like to play jokes and I must say I do it very well.

I also know how to cook, both pasta and desserts and in general other things that shouldn’t be a sporty person.”
