Jannik Sinner: Improving my mental game will be very important for my future

Jannik Sinner, 21, reveals he is working hard on improving the mental aspect of his game as he believes that will be the key to him elevating his game to a new level.

Sinner, ranked at No 11 in the world, has been one of the best players in the game for the past few years.

The next step in Sinner’s development is to figure out how to win Masters and Grand Slam titles.

“We’ve put a lot of work in, much more physically than tennis-wise, so many hours in the gym and I’ve also worked on the mentality as well, trying not to have so many problems in my head, so this is a lot of work to do, especially in the next couple of years, this is going to be very important for my future,” Sinner said on the ATP Tennis Radio Podcast.

Sinner believes he is progressing in the right direction

Sinner is still very young but he is well aware that he constantly needs to work on improving his game.

At this past Indian Wells Masters, Sinner assessed his development.

“For sure we have a lot of work to do still. I give my body a lot of time to develop. But for sure now I am in a much, much better position where I was one year ago. We take care of quite everything. I know also my body better, when to practice or when maybe to do only gym. So for sure all the injuries last year and a little bit also the bad luck we had as a team gave us still the possibility to think about or to improve for this year and hopefully also for the upcoming years,” Sinner said in Indian Wells.

In Indian Wells, Sinner made the semifinal before losing to Carlos Alcaraz.

Now, Sinner is set to compete at the Miami Masters, where he finished as runner-up in 2021.
