Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner played an exciting match at the China Open in Beijing. The Italian beat his Spanish rival in straight sets, with the final result of 7-6 6-1 in less than two hours of play, in a match that ultimately saw Jannik in total control.

In the press conference after the victory over Alcaraz, the Italian explained: “It was certainly one of the best matches played in my career. I would say that every match against Carlos Alcaraz is tough. We always show a lot of respect towards each other and we both play great. When we face each other, we always try to push ourselves to the limit.
Today I played slightly better in the important moments of the match. The first set was like a roller coaster, I tried to stay there mentally and I’m obviously very happy with my performance. The second set ended 6-1, it’s true, but he had many chances. I executed the game plan decided with my team really well. I won’t say exactly what we said before the game, but we forced ourselves to be aggressive.
When he has a lot of time to hit the ball, he plays really well. You know you need to change and fix some things; he did it too since our last meeting. We will also change something the next time we compete. It was our seventh match, we get along well. This makes things, for both of us, simpler and more complex at the same time. Today was my day.
