Horizon Multiplayer Gameplay and Art Leaks Online

on

Recently, a 12-minute video showing alpha gameplay of the new Horizon multiplayer project leaked online. Reportedly, this gameplay was taken from a build created in 2020, but it serves as a great representation of the earlier stages of the Horizon multiplayer game, which as of yet, is unnamed. There was also a secondary leak that revealed key art for the game, revealing a unique, colourful style that was reminiscent of promotional art seen in games like League of Legends.

For the most part, fans of the franchise were a little thrown by how dramatically different the multiplayer project looked compared to the full series. It boasted what some are referring to as ‘Fortnite graphics’, with subdued textures, bright colours, and a more ‘cartoony’ appearance. There were several pre-made characters on show, all of which were quite unique and seemed to be based on pre-determined builds, but that’s just speculation.

Horizon’s Multiplayer Might Not Be The MMO

Last year, it was rumoured that a Horizon MMO was in development, being created by South Korean studio, NCSoft. However, there are now suggestions that the Horizon multiplayer project leaked online in the 12-minute video is a totally different game altogether. It’s more of a cooperative title, boasting a smaller world, base-building mechanics, and the iconic line-up of robots that Horizon has become famous for.

At present, almost nothing is known about the Horizon MMO – if it indeed exists at all.

There are also rumours that a sequel to 2022’s Horizon Forbidden West is in development, given that the game itself ended on something of a cliffhanger.

Now, the leaked gameplay (and the associated art that came with it) is indicative of a smaller-form game, and it’s unmistakeably a Horizon title. From the movement to the character model attributes and from some of the weapons to the general vibe of the game, it’s essentially Horizon with some kind of skin pack installed. There’s something strange about the graphics, but it’s not a bad strange – even if it is splitting the community at present.

In the concept art, we can see fiveunique characters – almost hero-like in their design – fighting a hulking robot with a multitude of weapons. While fans of the franchise were poised to potentially unlock an MMO adventure in the Horizon universe, this cooperative title could be something entirely different. However, from DLCs to main releases, Guerrilla has yet to fail with the delivery of a Horizon project, and there’s no reason why this would be any different.

Oh, and there’s still a Horizon TV show coming to Netflix at some point in the future, too.
