Unsurprisingly, the successor to the Argentinian Mauricio Pochettino was pleased with the performances and the level of play of his players, leaders of Ligue 1 and qualified for the knockout stages of the Champions League against Bayern Munich.

“We obviously looked back on the first months, with the use of the workforce, with the organizational changes, the changes in animation, always trying to improve. You can’t achieve perfection, but we wanted to project ourselves on what was going to come our way during this second part of the season. This assessment was done with great humility. We had a very good first part, in terms of the championship, in particular, the course is good. We improved game after game, the team scored a lot of goals, but we have to correct small faults. Overall I’m happy with the evolution of the team, the evolution of the squad and the evolution of our game. Then there was the Champions League, where the whole group stage was played in a short time. This competition was not a discovery for me, but the exhibition here in Paris is quite different. We are undefeated, we played interesting matches, we progressed… The double confrontations against Benfica were for me a trigger on the fact of being able to move to another organization, another animation, not to remain frozen on what we had been doing since the start of the season. But overall, in terms of play, goals and points, it’s been a good first half of the season.”
