The Women’s World Cup will be held this summer in Australia and New Zealand. The competition will start on July 20 and end on August 20. For France, this will be the first major tournament for new coach Hervé Renard. But a problem raises questions a few months from the World Cup: TV broadcasting. In Europe, a threat exists on the presence of black screen in several important countries, including France, for lack of financial agreement with the broadcasters. In an interview given to AFPFatma Samoura, Secretary General of FIFA, spoke about this subject.

“There are ongoing discussions, but I don’t see a country like France, which organized this same World Cup four years ago, not broadcasting it. The offer we received did not meet FIFA’s expectations, the president (Gianni Infantino, editor’s note) said so clearly. We have a good product, the finest in women’s sport. Everyone talks about equality, parity. We would like these words to turn into actions. The simplest action is to promote this World Cup at its fair price, that’s all we ask. (…) It’s time to put women’s football in the spotlight and show that it is as important as the men’s. »
