European Individual Chess Championship 2023 – Live

Established in 2000, the European Championships are among the strongest open tournaments taking place yearly in the chess calendar. Since the pandemic prevented the organization of the 2020 event, this year marks the 23rd editions of both the open and women’s championships. The European Individual Chess Championship 2023 is organised by Serbian Chess Federation under the auspices of European Chess Union will take place from 2nd – 14th March 2023 in Vrnjacka Banja, Serbia. The championship will be played in 11 rounds, swiss system, with time control of 90 minutes for 40 moves plus 30 minutes for the rest of the game with an increment of 30 seconds per move, starting from move one.

Total number of 498 players have already registered for the tournament and the event is breaking the participation record previously set in Rijeka 2010 with 408 participants. The top ten seeds are GM Gabriel Sargissian (Armenia), GM Haik Martirosyan (Armenia), GM Radoslaw Wojtaszek (Poland), GM David Anton Guijarro (Spain), GM David Navara (Czech Republic), GM Alexandr Predke (FIDE), GM Andrey Esipenko, GM Jules Moussard, GM Ivan Saric and GM Boris Gelfand.
