Cain Velasquez Says He’s Returning to WWE Later This Month

on

It looks like Cain Velasquez will be in the 30-Man WWE Royal Rumble Match later this month.

The former UFC Heavyweight Champion spoke with The Sun in the UK and said he believes he can win the match, which will see WWE Champion Brock Lesnar enter at #1.

“I think I’m doing it, right, I think so. I can win it, hell yeah, that’s my mentality for everything. For everyone as well, that is how your mentality has to be. I’m going in to win this thing,” Cain said.

Cain made his WWE in-ring debut at Crown Jewel last year in Saudi Arabia, and quickly lost to The Beast. Velasquez commented on that loss and going up against Lesnar in the Rumble Match.

“But this is a different animal. Brock is the man here, so I ended up getting caught, the match was going my way, he caught me at the end,” Cain said. “I just have to keep pushing forward. I am never going to stop fighting to go out there and beat him again.”

Cain also indicated another singles match with Lesnar in the future.

“I don’t know if it’s going to be 2020, but the trilogy will happen some time or another,” Cain said of another match with Lesnar. “The more I am here, the more time we spend in between, I am getting better and better.”

Cain is in the UK this week with Sheamus, Paige, Stephanie McMahon, WWE United States Champion Andrade, and WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle to do media for WWE’s new TV partnership with BT Sport.

The Wrestling Observer first reported that Cain would be working the Rumble pay-per-view back on December 20, but there was no word yet on if he would be in the Rumble Match.

Cain signed a multi-year deal back in October and debuted with the Crown Jewel loss to Lesnar. He was supposed to work a tag team match at the recent WWE live event in Mexico City, but the match was nixed. There has been talk of Cain needing knee surgery as he has dealt with an injury for some time now.

The 2020 Royal Rumble pay-per-view takes place on January 26 from Minute Maid Park in Houston, TX.

Stay tuned for updates on Cain’s WWE future.
