Bryson DeChambeau has never hidden how much he wants to play in the Ryder Cup this year. However, he is not the only one who will decide on this. The only way Bryson could play there is if Johnson chooses him as one of his six captain’s picks. Bryson has previously represented the US in the same competition. His performances and quality certainly promise that he could fulfill his goal.
“Look, I played in a couple Ryder Cups, and I would love to represent my country. There’s no doubt about that.”- he said, as quoted by golfmonthly.com
In deChambeau’s opinion, his form gives him a good chance of getting a call. DeChambeau, regardless of whether he is a member of the team or not, will still support the team from home and hope that they can achieve a positive result.
“I feel like I’m in a good place to be able to do that. I feel like I’m a top 10 player for sure right now with the game that I’m playing, and if I do get picked, fantastic. If I don’t, I’ll still be watching on TV and rooting for Team USA because I respect and appreciate those players that are on the team representing our country more than a PGA Tour or LIV thing.”
LIV Golf and its quality
Many people wonder if LIV Golf has the necessary quality. Bryson recently finished with a 58, which many see as a testament to his quality.
“I can certainly tell you that considering that was a PGA Tour course and shooting 58, and 59 has been had on it before, we’re clearly not exhibition golfers.”
Phil Mickelson is a golfer who has supported Bryson many times so far. And this time he did the same.
“He brings an element of experience and intellectual perspective that is sometimes different and unique that can be very additive as well as an incredible golf game and a very tough competitor. I can say that about Brooks.”
