John Textor OL

Quickly, John Textor evacuated the debate concerning the current coach of OL, Laurent Blanc. The former Bordeaux and PSG coach will remain on the Rhone bench: “Yes, I don’t change coaches easily. I have been clear. (…) We want to give him more resources for next season”.

Arrived in Lyon in October 2022, Laurent Blanc is under contract with the 7th in Ligue 1 until 2024. Performing well lately, OL should not access Europe next season, unless the situation turns around this Saturday evening. , on the last day of the championship.

Change for Cheyrou

For his part, the prerogatives of Bruno Cheyrou, in the sights of supporters for several months, will change. The Frenchman will leave the OL football department to join Eagle Football. Which leaves his position as sports director free: “I don’t know if we are going to recruit a sporting director. I want a scouting director who makes the right decisions for Lyon. (…) We will prospect in all parts of the world. Players will have to consider playing in Brazil, Europe, move. Bruno (Cheyrou) will be their lawyer. He will defend their point of view”.

A hectic transfer window?

John Textor, who sees as “a failure not to be in C1”wishes to offer a great team to Laurent Blanc: “I want us to strengthen the squad with experienced players with a certain tenacity. Recruiting an experienced right-back is a good idea. An additional centre-back would be nice. I don’t know if we will need three or six players. We will discuss it with the coach”. While not selling much: the American does not intend to sell for “70 million euros” this summer as Jean-Michel Aulas predicted before him.

As for captain Alexandre Lacazette, no chance of seeing him go: “I don’t want to sell it. He won’t go anywhere”.
